It was a bitter, icy January when my husband and I turned our backs to Germany and moved permanently back to Southern California. It wasn't hard to readjust to the sunny weather and the nearness of the sea. Finally, my husband could surf the waves everyday and I could stick my feet in the sand and admire the blue vastness of the Pacific.
It was at the beach, while scavenging for shells and watching sea critters scurry through a tide pool, that I had the idea for Ivory Cove. Combining my love of nature with my jewelry-making expertise and my lifelong dream of entrepreneurship was not an instant success, but with positive-thinking, persistence and the advice of my customers, Ivory Cove has bloomed into a business that I am very proud of.
When customers let me know how touched they and their loved ones are by the bird nests customized especially for them, my heart sings and I know this is the right "job" for me. Although I miss Europe from time to time, I'm so happy to be back home in sunny California where the ocean inspires me everyday and my Etsy shop continues to grow with jewelry inspired by all the customers I so much appreciate.
