My name is Jill Nina and I craft every item that I have for sale.
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. I had my first sewing machine (a childs Singer) when I was about 5 years old.
I am descended from a long line of dressmakers and tailors and grew up learning many techniques, whilst my Mum made our clothes.
After following an academic career, I retrained in my hobbies when my daugter was small.
My dressmaking business sort of came to me, with people and then shops offering me work. I became completely self-employed about 10 years ago.
Much of my work is alterations of bridal, prom and evening dresses....a great way to learn how items are constructed.
I also make made-to-measure special occasion dresses and have worked for designers, making up size 10 samples and have constructed many items for final year fashion and textile students.
Etsy is my first foray into designing and making my own ideas.
I adore fabrics and this is usually the starting point for my designs.
I also love vintage styling, but very much keep an eye on catwalk shows and these influence other designs.
i have interited and found a large collection of vintage trimmings and buttons and try to use these where appropriate.
