Announcement
Hola! i have moved to Mexico to retire, and have launched a series of carpetbags from my new home of San Miguel de Allende! See them here, in ON THE SHELF, and on my Nomadic Bags page, listed as CURRENT STOCK. All bags not listed as such are already SOLD, sorry.
Each KITA bag is a unique, handmade, collectible piece of wearable art.
When you hold one in your hands, you will fall in love.
a KITA bag marries vintage textiles from every corner of the planet with upcycled castoffs, to create a travel companion for your every road.
KITA bags are organic and authentic and one of a kind.
the vintage handwork comes from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Bali, Japan, Bhutan, Borneo, Malaysia, Turkey, Israel, Australia, Hawaii, and the US.
most materials used in a KITA are handmade and vintage, or upcycled and repurposed. new upholstery thread and Gutermann top-stitching threads are used to quilt
old things to sturdier upcycled things.
structural seams and straps are bound by hand.
there are no zippers or velcro, to break or snag.
KITA bags are made the old fashioned way:
machine stitched on a 1962 metal-body beast,
hand stitched with a curved needle and pliers.
You will find amazing bags here,
But I make them for pleasure, with no pressure,
So you may have to wait for the next batch to be born...
Just remember, your KITA bag is in it for the long haul,
And worth waiting for...

5 out of 5 starsThe bag is beautiful. Wonderful quality craftsmanship. Krisha was great to work with and seemed to know exactly what I wanted. You definitely stand out from the crowd with one of these lovely bags. Just have to love the "story" of the fabric. Definitely will be back. Thanks!

5 out of 5 starsI have a relationship with my river pack. I waited awhile for this one, patiently, on The List. And it was beyond worth it for this is so beautiful and sturdy made that it will last my entire life and likely beyond. I love it. It was custom made for me by Krisha with every detail exceeding my hopes and expectations. These are worth every penney. They are high quality hand sewn workmanship starting with tribal textile relics. Amazing. This was a real treat for myself. I have not found anyone else who makes these like Krisha does...Anywhere, and I have searched like a true Nomad.
