In this topsy turvy world, I have found solace in playing with watercolour inks. Drop a couple of colours onto a puddle of water on paper and they dance. It’s fascinating, spontaneous, calming.
It’s a challenge creating these effects on fabric! The process of applying dye can take weeks; preparing fabric, waxing, painting, fixing, washing, repeat.
Dye sits within the fabric, rather than on the surface, and the marks achieved cannot be found in any other medium.

You may have known me in the past as a feltmaker. While at the Sorting Office Studios, Eastleigh, I had the incredible opportunity to 'forward my practice' with the support of aspace arts and Arts Council England. I said goodbye to fibres and welcomed in dyes, print table.....the whole shabang. I spent several years learning, exploring and playing with numerous techniques for applying dye to fabric. Who knew there were so many? And gaining an understanding of the technicalities, chemicals and fixing of dyes, mostly by mistakes!

I just love what I do and I hope my passion for colour shines through.
