My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 5 (3 years ago.) I got involved with JDRF and wanted to come up with different ways of fundraising for our team. I had the idea to bake and sell uniquely decorated Ukrainian Easter Egg cookies last Easter. I could not anticipate how successful my idea would become. I only expected a few dozen in sales, however, to my surprise I ended up baking and selling over 1000 cookies and shipped all across the US and Canada and raised over $2000 for our diabetes team. I knew I had stumbled upon something great. So I have decided to take this venture to the next level.
I have always had a great passion for cooking and baking. Being a stay at home mother I often experiment and try new recipes and methods. I have now taken my passion for baking & love for my heritage and combined the two to develop some unique cookie products. Etnik Kitschen showcases baked and decorated cookies with an added modern twist of cultural and ethnic flair.
For Easter I designed beautiful Ukrainian Easter Egg Cookies (Pysanky) and now for Christmas I have developed a regal Saint Nicholas cookie. Both showcase my culture and heritage with deep rooted tradition.
I strive to use only fresh and wholesome ingredients with no artificial additives or preservatives. I will not use anything that I would not feed to my own children.
As I continue to grow, develop and experiment with Etnik Kitsch-N, I ask you to challenge me with new designs and ideas that you would like to see. Please take a look at my photo portfolio to see the work I have done to date.
Thank you for visiting Etnik Kitsch-N!
