Artist Bio
Called to create, Lisa was blessed with a sensitive and intuitive nature, inspired to give voice to what she could not express in words. Her experience growing up on a homestead farm in Maine fanned her love for nature. Caring for a variety of barnyard animals, bird watching, chasing butterflies in fields of milkweed, exploring pond-life and walking through the evergreen forests. The beauty of the mountains, Appalachian hiking trails, pristine lakes and Maine coastline beauty were the landscapes she was blessed to enjoy. She was immersed in nature and to this day she brings attention to its beauty in her artwork, reflecting and honoring the handiwork of a wonderful God, the Master Artist and Creator whom she encountered personally in her twenties. Forty years later, she is still inspired by His creation.
Creative Process
Lisa primarily uses mediums in oil and acrylic paint, as well as watercolor, pen and ink, blending realism with the contemporary, allowing new ideas to enter into her artwork process, and experimenting to achieve her final vision for each subject. Transitioning from small works to large canvases, she paints on stretched canvas, hardwood panels and watercolor paper. A lifelong artist she has also worked with 3D materials, sculpting ideas with clay, wood, plaster and metal. Her studio practice combines acting on her ideas with unhurried experimentation and reflection as she considers possibilities to reimagine line, form, shape and color. Her visual language draws inspiration from nature and her faith. Each soulful creation carries intricate details, texture and a story.
Inspirational Art
"Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands." Psalm 90:16-17
Because faith is an integral part of her life, it surfaces often in her work. “As I see it, art is personal and manifests from the deeper levels of our soul and spirit. So my inspiration is directly connected into my relationship with God and His Word. Therefore, much of my work gravitates toward uplifting and inspirational themes as I endeavor to find ways to bring the message of hope and redemption. With this in mind, I utilize nature, the figure and simple compositions to draw out compelling and transcendent truth, without words. I leverage the natural realm to connect with the viewer, that they may pause and consider eternal realities as well as the meaning of their existence.”
“As a believer, the Holy Spirit may paint upon the “canvas of our imagination” in order to help us see what God is saying to us. Just as the Lord Jesus taught in parables, like word-pictures, they help our natural minds comprehend deeper spiritual truths of His Kingdom. When I observe the wonderful creation, I behold an earthly reflection of God's splendor and majesty. He is a fascinating and yet personal God who desires to communicate and fellowship with us. His love is my inspiration. He is my breath and my life-Song.”
The greatest message to be communicated is that of God’s amazing love and grace. This wonderful creative God, made the Way for us to know Him, through His only Son, Jesus Christ, our only Hope of redemption. He sent Jesus to die for us in our stead, in order to save us from our sin and eternal separation from Him. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever would believe upon Him, would have eternal life." (John 3:16)
Eternal life is to know Him. And by His Death and Resurrection, we can become children of God, by believing upon Him.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,
to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
