My family and I have recently moved to an old house with some very definite fixer-upper qualities, but I love it so much because it has given me the opportunity to claim some space for the sole purpose of creativity and crafting. The entire attic has been dubbed "the crafting room," complete with crafting tables, sewing machines, soap and paper drying cabinets and a costume closet. With my newfound powers have come some new responsibilities. I have to keep it organized and give it some purpose. Most of my creations are gifts for family and friends, but a lot of the time I become inspired and create things for no other reason than that I like them, without a specific person in mind. Those things end up here for sale in my shop. Also, sometimes, I have so much fun making something for someone, that I just go ahead and make more so that I can post them here for sale. My family and friends all enjoy the soap I make and babies in our family always get knitted, crocheted and quilted gifts.
My daughter also likes to spend time in the craft room. Most of her creations are wearable art, clothing or accessories, but she also enjoys making papercraft creatures from one of her favorite computer games: Minecraft. She has made a bit of mad money from this. Right now she is making and selling duct tape waist cinchers to earn money for a school trip her and her friends want to go on this spring.
