It all began with Loretta...

Fabulous Summertime Memories on Long Island Sound

Loretta’s Cottage was conceived out of my love for knitting and by whom and where I was taught the craft. My grandmother always had a project in waiting for us cousins at her cottage when we tended to get restless.

Loretta’s Cottage, the inspiration, was a glorious place, filled with immediate and extended family the entire summer, many of whom were crafters themselves in knitting, of course, wreath making, ceramics, woodworking and sewing. I spent my summers crafting my local autumn fair entries, sewing my wardrobe for the upcoming school year, as well as participating in the usual shoreline activities of swimming, crabbing, boating, sailing and fishing…and, further, either observing or playing in the daily Scrabble game.

Loretta’s Cottage, my shop, is filled with many one-of-a-kind items. All items are hand crafted and photographed exclusively by me. In my knitting projects I like to use yarns that are practical and can evoke some personal expression through their color and texture. I intend to expand my offerings as time permits, so I hope that you will visit regularly.
