I am a Turkish Jewelry designer living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the last 11 years.
I was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Soon after i completed my bachelor's degree on Public Relations , i got married to my second half, my life companion and father of my two beautiful daughters. He had been living in dubai for years for work and i had to leave my most beloved hometown, Istanbul- the city of history, heritage, colors, culture, most delicious food!!
Dubai is a melting pot of so many nationalities and cultures. Thanks to our most open-minded and welcoming host- Emiratis, everybody feels and lives like at home. Benefits of living in Dubai is countless: sunshine all year round, being exposed to so many cultures , traditions, languages, cuisines...
I studied Montessori method of teaching 2 to 8 years olds and worked as a teacher in a montessori school until i was expecting my first baby. It was a great experience working with so many different nationality kids.We did a looooooot of art work together :)
During my pregnancy i did Wilton Cake decoration course and soon after my first baby was able to sit by her self :), i started baking and decorating boutique style celebration cakes for special orders like birthdays , wedding anniversaries, farewell gatherings, baby showers and many more.. it was quite tiring but the idea of making someone's special day even more memorable with my handcraft was just wonderful! Huge smiles on the face of the people when they come to pick up their cakes:))
Unfortunately when i started to drive my daughter to nursery, i had limited time in the mornings to work on cakes and no time at all when she was super active in the house in the afternoon back from school. Once again it was time to adjust my home based hobby business to my changing lifestyle!!
I came across jewelry making workshops in dubai and i absolutely fell in love with it. Playing with colors had always been my favorite from the oil painting class days back in high school to decorating celebration cakes!! But this time with one difference.. whatever i was handcrafting was staying for a loooong time.. A piece of jewelry that you put all your inspiration, good energy and handcraft in, is making another person feel chic, good looking and confident!! How more rewarding can your job be?
Now i have two beautiful daughters in our family. one 5 years old and the other yet 20 months old ... yes at times , it gets challenging trying to keep small beads and stones away from my little baby.. gets challenging to manage your time to get back to customers, shipping on time when both of your kids get sick with high fevers at home.. gets challenging to actually find time to finish a piece you just designed in your mind:)) But this is what's energizing me everyday when i wake up.. designing with so many colors and handcrafting..
And lets not forget that with us three ladies in the house, femininity is aaall around !!
I try to not repeat any design i have done before so that once you purchase an item, it is unique and you are the sole person who owns it.
I supply most of my very ottoman - turkish pendants from my hometown Istanbul and my stones from all around the world through etsy.
