My passion for photography grew from a practical need to take photographs. By trade, I am an interior designer. While studying for the master's in design at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, I saw a gap in the relationship between a completed interiors project and how the designer was able to translate that space through a photograph. My solution was to learn to photograph my own projects. However, I quickly discovered that I loved the camera. Photography gave me a different view of my work, architecture, people and the world. Now, I can't put my camera down.
The concept of Americana and how it is defined has fascinated me for years. Many of my photographs represent the desire that I have to understand American traditions and culture. To scout locations and subjects, I often spend hours in the car either driving around locally or sometimes on long road trips, even following the rodeo. My work ranges from documentary style stories to fine art.
I hope that people can find as much enjoyment in looking at the details of each photo as I do in taking each every one of them.
