Years ago I found myself out of work and on unemployment for about six months. I played video games, but they got boring after a while, and I needed a new hobby. My family has always knitted, so I figured I would teach myself to knit and that would keep me busy until I found a job. Was I ever right!
I made scarves, hats, christmas presents for everyone, afghans... Pretty much anything that I could knit, I knit. I spent most of my free time knitting. It became almost an addiction! Then one day, I decided I needed to make myself a pair of fingerless gloves. I worked in a very cold office in a hockey arena, so I needed something to keep me warm while leaving my fingers free to type. I brought them into work, and that was when the monster was born.
My coworkers loved the fingerless gloves so much that they commissioned me to make several pairs. I made almost a dozen pairs of gloves, at least one for every female coworker! They all said I should start selling them outside the office, so I started my Etsy shop.
At first I only had the one item listed. I didn't quite get the concept of Etsy, and that if you wanted people to look at your shop you needed to have things for people to look at. For about a year and a half I just had that one item listed, but I continued to knit.
I had surgery a few years ago, and with nothing to do but knit again, I decided that I'd put more energy into this Etsy thing. I could only use so many knitted items at once, after all. So here I am!
I've expanded a bit into other mediums, and plan to continue to expand. I have a bit of ADD, I believe, and cannot be happy unless I have several projects going at once. To keep myself organized, I started this shop last year.
You can find all of my knitted items over at MadebyMegShop.etsy.com.
