That is me! Amigurumi refers to the Japanese art of crocheting small toys. Basically this means anything made to be as cute as possible. Seeing images of amigurumi online fascinated me so much one day I took the plunge and grasped my first crochet hook. After holding onto a clumsily made smiling orange, I knew something had begun. Quickly I begun creating my own designs and patterns. Simultaneously, I'd learned about Etsy and how easy it was to open a shop. After 2 months of crochet, Millie's Crochet House was open for business, with me being the one woman powerhouse.

Opening Millie's Crochet House meant more to me than just trying to sell my creations. This had been a major step to verify my independence as an adult. I did all the research, designing, photography, every little detail by myself without any help. My Etsy shop gave me confidence that hard work pays off, and I overcame my fears of failing. I've been able to take what I've learned from running my own shop to other aspects of my life.

What goes into my Crochet House? A lot of patience, devotion, yarn and felt. Each item listed started as a sketch on a piece of graph paper. Next is the longest part of the process, pattern making. All of my amigurumis are made from my personal patterns. And let me tell you, creating patterns to match the drawings is very tricky! Alas, the results are beyond pleasing. Afterwards, the amigurumi has it's own personal photo shoot, done in my mini photography studio. Now the little ami waits until the right owner coms around, they are always happy to find a new home!

I am extremely grateful for my wonderful customers, and even every person who gives my amis a little glance. I put all my efforts into each ami I make, no matter how simplistic or complex. I also love custom orders because of the challenge, challenges always make me improve. This experience has been fantastic, and I hope to continue to improve my skills as a crocheter and a small shop owner. Thank you!
