Announcement    I learned to love plants and gardening from working alongside my mother as a little girl. Our family has traveled extensively in the tropics and my daughter taught tropical biology in Costa Rica, where my love for orchids and tropical plants began to flourish. In 2008 we added a non-traditional greenhouse to our home in southern New England which we set up to mimic a tropical rainforest complete with a canopy layer, twisted vines encrusted with orchid and ferns and an orchid studded living wall. Our mini rain forest is home to a variety of lizards and frogs as well. As my plants grow I divide them and sell the babies in my Etsy shop: Noank Tropicals. I practice organic gardening in my greenhouse and my perennial gardens. Therefore I never use chemical pesticides or fertilizers on anywhere on my property. All my plants- houseplants and perennial garden plants are fertilized with manure and dirt from my worm farm. There will likely be worms and other normal fauna in with the plants and some leave may have been nibbled by the critters who share our gardens. When I ship my plants they are packed with a little soil and sphagnum amended with an organic root stimulator called "Biotone Starter Plus with micorrhizae" by Epsoma.
