Penguinuity was born in 2012 while I was laying in bed after having surgery for endometriosis. I was chatting with my best friend and I told her that I had been thinking of selling the patterns for items I had designed as gifts and making items to sell. She came up with the name and I started crafting.

Having an auto-immune disease along with fibromyalgia and chronic migraines makes life difficult at times, but I refuse to be someone who lets the pain control me. A friend taught me to crochet in 2001 as a way to pass the time and de-stress while working at a bank call center. When I was forced to quit my job because of health issues in 2006, I noticed I felt better when I was busy, so I used online videos to expand my crochet skills and learn to knit. Since then I have learned to sew as well.

I'm hyper-sensitive to pharmaceuticals, so I have chosen a path of natural methods to help with my health and pain management and crafting for Penguinuity is a big part of the process. In combination with diet and yoga, crafting helps keep me healthy by giving me a reason to get up in the morning and keep moving all day.

Each item I make has a story and was made with love, and I hope you love what I make for you as much as I loved crafting it.
