For 15 years, I worked as a senior editorial designer, illustrator and sometimes Art Director for a variety of newspapers and magazines. It was a wonderful job that I loved and that I found utterly exciting and fascinating.
But sometime after my first child was born, I decided that what I really wanted was be an illustrator. I wanted to draw books! Picture books! cartoons! Cute characters. Inspirational quotes! Things that made me happy and things that made me smile and things that would make other people smile.
After many years of late nights and early mornings spent drawing and sketching and learning, and after my second child, that I took that first fearful step and actually quit my full-time job to begin the career as a "draw-at-home" mom. All of these things I couldn't have done without the support and encouragement from my wonderful husband and family.
Whether I'm making/designing/drawing wedding invitations, or graduation portraits or children's books, I cherish every moment and am grateful for how blessed I am to be able to do the things I love and spend time with my precious children along the way.
