I didn't know I was creative until I turned 30. It started out with painting quirky little bugs, lizards and farm animals, and when I moved back to Texas, my wonderful mother got me started on quilting. After the first one I made I was completely hooked! And when I attended the Houston Quilt Festival, there was no turning back - I simply have to quilt. As much as possible, every chance I get.
Once I discovered quilting I realized I could never go back to relaxing on weekends - I dream in quilts, I see them everywhere, ideas pop into my head at the oddest moment (such as waiting in line at the driver's license office), and if I don't get to work on my art for a period of time, I become cranky and restless, as if there's an alien in my chest wanting to burst out.
I'm really inspired by modern art and art quilts, and I strive to create with a peaceful, "in the moment" attitude. I learn something with every quilt I make, and that brings joy. I hope to pass that joy on to anyone who sees or buys it.
I'd been wanting to put my art out into the world, and then a good friend suggested Etsy, and a love affair began anew. Not only do I love having a shop on Etsy, I love to shop on Etsy - creativity abounds here, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.
