I live and work in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and I am totally in awe of the majesty and natural beauty just a few miles to the southwest of where we live in Truckee Meadows. My studio opens onto a patio that faces the west, and I often go outside and look west to see Mount Rose, which is about halfway to Lake Tahoe. I call Mt. Rose "The Three Sisters" because from my vantage point it appears to have three distinct peaks. In the summertime, even in the high summer, there is snow visible near the peak, and of course in wintertime the whole mountain is bathed in pure white snow. It's a breathtaking view, and from the Sierra Nevada range I take much of my inspiration for the colors and textures used in my handspun yarns.
