When I was a little girl, I would climb up the hill behind my parent's house. Looking out over our farm and the neighboring farms, I would yearn. I'd yearn for a different life, a better life, an easier life. I'd yearn for a future where money wasn't an issue, where I could come back and build a beautiful house for my parents atop that hill.

Not every dream is meant to come true. My parents sold the farm, and I won't be building that house upon the hill.

Now, I zoom down the back roads with my husband and son, camera in hand. The pictures I take are an attempt to not only document a fading rural lifestyle but also to capture the feelings and emotions and memories of my childhood on the farm.
