As a young girl, learning to sew at an early age I watched my Mother make many of our clothes. My Grandfather Papa gave me my first sewing machine at age 9 and it was a Singer which I still have.

Our church would make dresses every year and send overseas to various orphanages. My Mother was always given her allotment of the fabric and the pattern to make several. They wanted all the dresses the same style and fabric. As the time frame went on, many of the other women ended up turning their fabric back in and bowed out. They sometimes kept the pattern so another copy was difficult to obtain. My Mother ended up with more and more of them to make and gave me one she had cut out to see how well I could make it. The church women's group approved my dress and I was then allowed to sew as many as I could. But my Mother could not keep up with cutting them out.

Taking action I told my Mother I knew the shapes so well by now I didn't need a pattern and she was hesitant but I cut one out and made it. She found nothing wrong with it so I began hand cutting things from memory. This led to both of my Etsy shops. Carefree simple hand made patterns and comfortable cotton clothing.
