Sewing is in my blood...or maybe its creating that is?
I am very lucky to have a talented mother, who I learned how to think outside the box with a creative mind and hands. From an early age, I remember watching her at her sewing table the needle going a mile a minute. I remember looking through the drawers of her table wondering "what did this do?". Of course, rumaging through all her fabric and trying to figure out what I could possibly create.
She taught me well. On her metal Janome machine she showed me how to stich, she helped me cut out my first patterns and pin my first pins. I still have those patterns today. My first creations were clothes for my barbies. I even still have some of those outfits I created to this day, my daughter plays with them.
So years pass and I putter with my sewing. Making small things here and there and always fixing holes or hems.
Then I had this little life changing experience. Little as in 6 lbs 4 oz, not little as in voice or personality :) She changed my world and I worked to change my world for her.
In that Sew Custom Designs was born. I saw a need out in my world for affordable custom draperies. The stores draperies seemed so bland, and nothing ever fit how I needed it to fit. My days of endless hours of looking at fabrics and touching their fibers could finally be put to good use.
I JUST LOVE fabric.
I hope I can convey to my friends and clients my love of fabric and sewing through my store!
The story continues....
Thanks Mom!
