When I was growing up I always answered "What do you want to be when you grow up?" with "A Mommy!"
Not a very usual answer in the days of Women's Liberation and the Equal Rights Amendment. I was never ambitious in the corporate scheme of things.
Now that my two beautiful, wonderful children are full grown and on their own I have had time to get back to the creative side of me.
I wanted to learn to sew from an early age. But before I was even allowed to look at the sewing machine my [Grand]Mama very wisely instructed me in the arts of embroidery and hand stitching.
Somewhere in my boxes of memorabilia I have those first hand sewn Barbie dresses. Poor Barbie. She would have been arrested for a Wardrobe malfunction had she worn those things in public ;)
I have sewn clothes, costumes, home decor items and am currently trying to make sure that everyone has an apron or two.
I love when a customer comes to me with an idea and we can work together to bring it to reality.
