I am a woman born of my experiences. My love of travel, and desire to live each moment as fully and freely as possible, fuels my passion for design. As a child, I found myself surrounded with the buttons and beads in my seamstress' grandmother's sewing room. Naturally finding beauty in each odd and end, the art of jewelry making quickly blossomed as I combined the colors and textures together.
In 2008, Simon & Ruby was born. I realized that with the years of creative endeavors, my experience in photography, painting, and other media could combine to create something even more "me." I bring my journey to life through my jewelry. My goal is to make wearable art that inspires you and tells you the story of my travels. Each season, I transport you to a place or time that has truly inspired me. We've taken you on an expedition through Italy, Guatemala, Ireland, California, and the Deep South, among other destinations.
I scavenge the ends of the earth looking for the most beautiful gemstones, vintage pieces, and glass beads. I love the thrill of the chase. I lovingly create each and every piece of jewelry for you to enjoy. I believe that a piece of jewelry that you really love probably has a great history, some wonderful anecdote about how you found it, the trip you were on where you stumbled upon this quaint little shop, or your eccentric great aunt that passed it on to you. I want each of my pieces to have that story, to evoke a visual image, a feeling.
I am inspired by both the world around me as well as my past. My free-spirited lifestyle informs my art and original mixed media jewelry. My pieces are available online as well as in boutiques across the country.
