If you're going to cook, you might as well look good doing it!

Hello friends! My name is Ashley and I am the creator of Simply Mercurio. I live and create my collection in the South Eastern suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Why aprons, you ask? Well, my motto is "If you're going to cook, why not look cute doing it?". I grew up with sewing around me, my mom would make amazing Halloween costumes for me as a child, and my Grandma tailored clothing as a profession. For me though, it all started in middle school, sixth grade to be exact. I was in my first Home Economics class and had to learn how to sew. Our first project was an apron, I had an obsession with cow spots at the time so I picked out cow patterned fabric. After a week or two, I had the most basic but awesome cow apron. I wanted to make dinner for my parents every night just so I could wear it. As I grew older, I put my creativity on hold to focus on the business side of fashion and earned my degree in Fashion Merchandising. After graduating, I decided to put my creative thinking cap on and start sewing again. A friend of mine was talking about how much she loved aprons and asked if I could patch one of her old ones up for her. She said that she had no connection to it so I decided to make a completely new one out of the old fabric. AND IT BEGAN!
