Once upon a time . . .

Once upon a time a 'thrifty and crafty' girl named AJ met a 'junk collecting' boy named Michael; and it was love at first sight. She made room in her life and heart for his junk and he made room in his workshop for all her tools, and not long afterwards Sophie's Cottage was born! While I now run Sophie's Cottage 'solo'; Michael remains my supplier of the reclaimed wood I make my signs from.

Originally opened as a brick and mortar shop in Hillsboro, Oregon for five years; Sophie's Cottage now sells to shoppers across the country via etsy; and in a booth at STARS ANTIQUE Mall in the Sellwood Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

I love ALL KINDS of crafting and creating, and originally I stocked 'a little bit of everything' here in my shop on etsy. After years of trial and error and carefully watching sales trends; I have now settled upon stocking a wider selection of a select few items including hand painted signs and hand stitched felt items. I'm always happy to accommodate special requests and custom orders.
