Welcome to Sroxyland!
If I had to choose one thing to make me happy, it would be to make others smile... I hope the work I share with you here accomplishes just that!
Art has always been an escape from the everyday for me, starting when I was a little girl collecting clothing tags from my mother's clothing and making collages out of them. I've always kept art close to me, but far enough away that it's still enjoyable and relaxing. The work I share here has been created over the past couple years in my life, which has also been the most happy/stressful/confusing/learning experience for me as well. Each piece was made with an open mind, in a living room and probably around 1am (I'm still working on a regular sleep schedule).
About me:
I hail from D.C., spent a random year in upstate NY, and now I call myself a Chicago transplant. I'm the youngest of three, plus the only girl, and have a beloved family dog back home in D.C., Dusty, (shown in my picture), whom I miss more than anything in the world! My full-time job is in advertising and I absolutely love it, mainly because it keeps me on the move and out of trouble.
Outside of art, I've always been the tomboy/athlete kind of girl, playing almost every contact sport possible including: soccer, ice hockey, field hockey, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, diving, rugby and football, on top of having the privilege to play Division 1 lacrosse in college. Many of the acrylic paintings here were actually worked on after games as a way for me to "wind down" from the busy week!
In my spare time, I enjoy a good lifting sesh, coaching lacrosse and volunteering, most recently for a couple animal rescues in the Chicago area.
