I started SurpriseLilyDesigns as a way to keep myself busy in the ultra-stressful time between graduating highschool and entering my first year of college. Although this does seem slightly counter-intuitive (I mean why take on more stress, let alone the stress of starting a business?) it became a great way for me to focus all the nervous energy I had about leaving home, my family, and my friends. Upon the suggestion of my family, I started creating designs for greeting cards and iPhone cases to sell. I threw myself into the work, and did somewhat well on the website Zazzle with my designs. Now, with my second summer at hand, I wanted to expand and try a new market, with a whole new type of business. It also becomes a great place to try to move all of the things I create (although I know my family supports my creative drive, you can only have so many crafts in one living space.) So here I with, with SurpriseLilyDesigns, my year old business baby, ready to explore Etsy's vast market!
