I first began pen turning my sophomore year of high school in the fall of 1999. My woodshop teacher was instrumental in developing my passion for penturning. Woodshop in my high school in Houston, helped me channel much energy into learning how to create various items from wood. Fast Forward a few years, and woodworking is still something I love, and I just can't seem to get away from.

What I love the most about pen turning is working with native Texas wood. The wood I use the most is Mesquite wood. The natural grain pattern of Mesquite is never the same, and always comes out different every time.

The one thing I don't like about pen turning is after I spend hours turning a pen, and after seeing the results come out perfectly, I have to turn around and sell it. Fountain pens are some of the hardest to let go, but I know the customers that buy them enjoy them to the fullest.
