I started my shop in February of 2012 with about 10 pairs of vintage earrings from my personal collection. My life had recently been turned upside down and I knew that some big changes were going to be made. I had chosen to leave the safety of my management job at a large company to take care of my family. I decided that I was going to take the opportunity to make the leap and try to do something that I had been dreaming of doing for years.
I had recently given birth to my beautiful son. When my son was born he was officially diagnosed with Down Syndrome and a heart defect that would require open heart surgery (we knew from prenatal tests that the chances of this were very high). I knew that I wanted to stay at home with him, be at every doctor's appointment, every therapy session and see every smile and laugh. I wanted to give him the best start in life that I possibly could. I also wanted to set an example of loving what you do and being passionate about your work and that was most definitely not going to happen with my old job.
I started slowly and but kept going. I was thrilled to get my first sale in April. I started to list clothes along with accessories. Then I branched out into selling internationally. I took baby steps.
I love my shop. I love all of the items in it. I choose all of them myself. A couple of days a week my son and I got out "hunting for spoils" and then make my husband sit through a show of "our loot".
I love researching the items. I love the history of each item. I love even more the thought that it is going to go on and make more history with it's new owner.
As you can see a whole lot of love goes into my shop. I hope that I can spread a little bit of that love to those who visit it!
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better!
Much love,
Kathleen
