Announcement    Do you feel you are in a rut and need a change? I felt like this most of my life until I discovered clay. My pottery journey, my passion, didn’t start until my 40’s. I still must make pottery. It is never too late to discover your God-given calling.
I have a scientific, whimsical and natural side, which shows in the pottery items I create.
I don’t want to hide my experience and talent under a bushel, so I will be posting blogs and videos on how to make pottery on my website http://www.thebutlerspottery.ca

I often package and ship your order the following day. If you have to cancel your order let me know as soon as possible. Once it has been shipped your order can no longer be cancelled, and you will be responsible for paying for the return shipping.

RETURN POLICY I take many pictures of my pottery and describe them. If you see something you don't like on my pottery please contact me before you purchase it, so I can explain it. Items will not be returned if you don't like what was shown in the photo. Colours might not be exactly as computer and device screens might show the tints differently, please read the descriptions.

Any minor glaze flaws such as a pinhole and other blemishes occasionally occur during the glaze firing process. These will be shown in the photographs, and will not be subject to returns or refunds. Occasionally the glaze on the rim of my mugs is slightly rough to the touch. I try my best to eliminate this, but the glaze does what it wants to in the kiln. I do not return items with these as this proves that my mugs are individually made and not mass-produced in a factory. If you have any questions about any listing, feel free to ask. Once you receive your purchase and you decide to return it, you are responsible for the return shipping. It is the buyer's responsibility to read the descriptions and look at the photos I have posted. Make sure this is what you want to purchase.

HOW POTTERY IS CREATED

Step 1) Wedge the clay to realign the molecules, imagine kneading bread.
Step 2) Turn it on a wheel into cups, bowls, etc.
Or hand build it into toothbrush holders, sculptures, pitchers etc.
Step 3) Trim the wheel-turned pottery, add handles, shape curves, etc.
Step 4) The green-ware pottery is put on the shelf and wrapped in plastic to slowly dry. An important step to prevent cracking or breaking.
Step 5) Bone dry clay is fired in a low-fire kiln to bisque it.
Step 6) Glaze and decorate the pottery and fire it in the kiln. The glaze is a chemical that melts in the kiln producing wonderful colours.

My pottery is food, dishwasher, and microwave-safe unless otherwise noted. Be careful when heating water in any cup in the microwave as the water can explode. Like all ceramics taking it from extreme cold to very hot will break it.

Detail descriptions will be listed with the items. If you have a question contact me.

I try my best to make good quality pottery items and service my customers, but I am not perfect and mistakes do happen, but rarely.

I hope you enjoy my pottery for many years to come.

My journey into pottery.

It's never too late to learn. For 30 years I painted on ready-made ceramics, painted folk art pictures and then painted freehand landscapes and animals. Then I picked up a bag of clay and then my pottery journey began, my calling.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get it in any color.

Gazes are a chemical reaction and need to be tested as a result I can only offer colors that I already use. Check my other pottery in solid colors to see the colors I can offer. Hand painted items are not included.
