The Dusty Old Shack is a shop that truly reflects her owner. A strange mixture of things but all together it works itself out. For many years I would tell people that I started the shop by shopping at the 25 cent table at garage sales. My husband had lost his job, I am disabled due to having complicated lupus and yet the bills had to be paid. Besides creating art my other great love has been treasure hunting. Whether its looking for seashells at the beach, a hidden gem at a garage sale or a fantastic piece of hardware from an old barn, I just love it. I figured maybe I could combine my loves and create an online shop. It was worth a try anyways. So I took $25 and hit up the 25 cent tables at a few garage sales. I was able to amass a haul of 28 items and so The Dusty Old Shack was born. It turns out I have a good eye for things people want to decorate their homes with. For 6 years I grew the shop to the point where it was the sole provider for our family.

As life goes things change. My progressive disease started progressing and I was no longer able to do the amount of shopping required to keep the shop going. After a whole lot of tears I came to realize that I didn't have to give up the shop completely. I realized that I had the most fun finding hardware and that I still had a platform to sell my artwork. So The Dusty Old Shack shut down for a few weeks and was reborn to what it is today, mostly hardware with a few goodies thrown in and my artwork.

I love my shop and I still get thrilled everytime I get a notice that something sold. I hope that I am able to continue selling neat pieces of hardware and artwork for many years to come. Thank you for stopping by the shop and reading about our journey.
