The Grand Ave Attic has been operating since the summer of 2007 in various forms and product inventory. Back in Houston, TX, my husband and I, on a sudden whim, purchased a storage unit filled with hundreds of books off craigslist. That afternoon, in pouring rain, we unloaded box after box into our garage and spent the next several months uncovering wonderful treasures and discovering a love for hidden gems. When the economy turned in 2008 and we were faced with months of unemployment, we discovered we could turn those books into a small income while we sought other job opportunities. Even after moving to Austin, TX, and Christian was back in the workforce, we continued our reselling business. In Christian's free time, he started fixing and refinishing broken, discarded furniture. He found a skill and talent that he has since developed and refined in numerous projects and pieces.

We also love spending as much free time as we can hunting down vintage clothing, toys, and other items that people will love and cherish for years to come. There's nothing like seeing an item that you or a family member owned years ago to create the nostalgic, warm feeling of home.

We are currently located in Sedalia, MO, where we are setting into motion plans to live a more simple and self-sufficient life. We are remodeling a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1891 while we search out our ultimate destination: the farm.
