Hi
My name is Rowan and I love all crafts but particularly knitting and hand embroidery – both of which my lovely mother taught me. Now she is no longer alive, it is a way in which I still feel connected to her. There are many times I wish she was still here for advice at those ‘sticky moments’.
I have a passion for lace shawls – partly because of the beauty of them and partly (if I’m honest) because they are one-size and don’t need sewing together (I always use the knitted on edge technique).
I also have a passion for natural yarns and quality needles and hence only supply the best of each. I am particularly fond of alpaca as a yarn, both to knit with and wear as it is the most comforting of yarns in my experience and usually suitable for those with a wool (or the lanolin in wool!) intolerance, yet is a 100% natural fibre that blocks really well.
I have been lucky enough to have had three patterns published in Knit Now, a UK knitting magazine and they can be seen on my ravelry page, http://www.ravelry.com/people/cerddin
I also co-run three knitting groups in the Canterbury area and workshops to learn different techniques producing a lovely item, e.g. beaded lace shawls, fair-isle tam, entrelac cushion, intarsia hot water bottle cover etc. For details of all please check out www.therovingyarn.co.uk and please also check out my etsy store regularly as I will be adding yarns, needles and kits.
