The Wood Garden's Story

When our first son was born in 2004, Chris made some wooden toys for him just for fun, and enjoyed it so much he decided to create a small business with his woodworking, with Laura as his assistant. After having a frustrating time with craft shows, we decided to open up an Etsy shop in 2009 in order to reach a wider market.

We have had such a good time on Etsy. It's been so rewarding to have this chance to meet up with others all over who share our values when it comes to children's toys. We love all of our customers and we're so grateful for you all.

We strive to create wood toys that are simple and modern, yet have a classic feel. Rather than follow the trends, we create toys that will always be in style. We hope that our toys will be around for decades to come.

All of our toys meet the Health Canada safety requirements for children's toys. And they are finished with nothing but organic coconut oil and local beeswax. We are proud to offer products that are natural, safe for babies, and for the environment, too.

By day Chris is an industrial mechanic, and in the evenings he makes toys in the basement workshop of our old farmhouse. Laura runs the shop and home schools our four children. We live on a homestead with chickens and a flock of Shetland sheep.
