My love of home goods, vintage collectibles, and all things kitchen is firmly grounded in the many quality hours I spent watching "Martha Stewart Living" growing up. In high school, I was designated "grammar police" due to my uncanny ability to quote the MLA. It all came together when I had the idea of making teacups and saucers adorned with commonly misused words and their definitions.

When Laura SN, my mom, suggested using the words in smarty pants sentences on the saucer bottoms, we looked at each other as only two double Capricorns can understand. Let the creating begin! After much shopping for just the right cups and and much practice learning to write in cursive on curved, slippery surfaces, with the finishing addition of a Martha blue heart on the bottom of each saucer, voila!, VenueDecor was born :).

Grammar Cups grew into customized cups for weddings and other events, as well as new fun kitchen and home accessories, and we filled in the shop with upcycled mid century furniture, and whatever vintage awesome caught our eye and aesthetic (read, quirky) at the flea markets.

We were blown away when BuzzFeed.com featured us in their holiday gift guide, "24 Insanely Clever Gifts for Book Lovers," and we've since been featured in the Huffington Post, and Self.com, and several other blogs and gift guides. But by far, the most rewarding experience of this little experiment is working with our Etsy buyers, who are a constant source of fun, imagination, and (and we can both say this after spending MANY years in retail) THE NICEST CUSTOMERS IN THE WORLD.
