Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit our shop. Winnie and I are finally taking the first steps in living out our dream, creating art pieces out of reclaimed objects.
My wife is the true artist of our team, and has amazing ideas which we bring to life. Most of the materials we use for our pieces are what we like to call "Dumpster Diamonds".
We started out making funky birdhouses as gifts for our family. The birdhouses are constructed out of discarded new home construction scraps, and other decorative items found at garage sales. All of our birdhouses are one of a kind, and are signed and dated.
After making several birdhouses, we started creating the Cholla Cactus Crosses adorned with up-cycled aluminum can flowers. We live in the mountain desert area of Edgewood New Mexico, and have Cholla Cactus all over our property. The Cholla cactus we use died naturally, and has been sun ripened so to speak. After about a year the flesh and needles fall away leaving the skeleton or cactus wood.
Winnie uses her artistic talent to turn the empty aluminum cans into beautiful flowers. All of the flowers are hand cut by my wife using scissors. After cutting flowers into the flower shape she wants, she hand paints them, bringing them to life. Once the flowers are created, we pair them up with just the right cross based upon shape and size.
We also began using another common item found here, rusty barbed wire. We form the barbed wire into wreathes and attach the aluminum can flowers, transforming the rusted wire into beautiful wall hangings.
I am recently retired country boy and Winnie is artsy hippie, not too far away from her own retirement. Together we look forward to expanding our shop, and bringing our Hippie Redneck designs to life.
Sincerely,
Wade and Winnie Aubuchon
