I had been making sterling silver and gemstone jewelry for years. One day while in a home improvement store walking down the hardware isle, I realized that I could use the hardware to create jewelry that looked liked silver, but make a collection that would be affordable.

Once I realized that hardware was the medium I wanted to work with, I decided I wanted to create a collection that’s environmentally responsible.

Did you know, that on construction sites if they have any hardware left over from there finished job that it cannot be returned or used on another job, so the unused hardware of goes in the dumpster.

When I heard that I knew I wanted to work with recycled material. I found a couple of recycling centers that sold hardware and I was thrilled to know I could create my collection and be mindful of the environment as well.

Working with the hardware has been challenging and rewarding. Challenging, because the hardware is already set in a shape, a shape that is a challenge to alter. Due to the limitation of the shape, I find myself being more creative, therefore rewarding!
