"To find the true self" may sound a little heavy, but for me, creating beautiful things is a process of becoming silent, listen to the materials, becoming one with the process and the object I am creating. To feel no time or space. Just to be.
This actually makes me feel light and happy!

My name is Florine, and Atelier Florine is my creative project. I am a textile artist with a great passion for natural materials, sustainability and re-using. This passion shows in my creations: home- and fashion accessories made of handmade felt, wool, silk and other natural or reclaimed materials.

I make everything myself, using eco friendly techniques.
The process of felt making is very eco-friendly: it requires no more than wool, water, soap and friction. The possibilities of the material - for all we know the oldest form of textile - seem to be unlimited. You can make anything of felt: from handbags, bowls and lampshades, to clothing, shoes and even tents, like the Mongolian yurts. The felt can be very fine and delicate, or superstrong and sturdy. And everything inbetween.

Lately I have been learning about dyeing and printing my creations by hand. To do this I use plant material from my own garden or nearby surroundings. I do make an exception for eucalyptus, which doesn't grow where I live, but it gives such a great rich color!
Also in eco-printing and -dyeing the possibilities are endless. It adds a whole new dimension to my work.

I am always interested in learning more about both these wonderful techniques. There seem to be no limits to what you can make, every project generates new ideas and new creations in what feels like a never ending flow.
