Scouring European markets and antique stores is one of the great joys in my life! The pace is slower there, so it is almost meditative for me. I could spend hours rummaging through bins of lace and display cases of jewelry at the Marche Aux Puce in Paris. It is such fun to me that I have been known to trek through the rain (without umbrella!) to shop the Sunday antique market at St. Croce in Florence, Italy. Many of the pieces in my shop have components from these lovely European destinations. My husband goes with me and we call it a vacation, but really it is a shopping trip!
I think you will find my creations have a certain "je ne sais quoi" about them that sets them apart from the banal and mass produced items you find in mall department stores. My designs are unique and highly personal. An unforgettable vintage medal, rosary, or cameo that was discovered in a market in Paris or Florence along with gemstones, mother of pearl, rhinestones, and pearls are favored components.
What you won't find are awkward, clunky, and cumbersome pieces ....not only do I want my pieces to work with the clothing we all wear today but also they need to be "sympatico" with the lines of the female form . With that in mind my goal is to integrate 4 ideas into my designs: the feminine, the romantic, the vintage, and the sacred....jewelry I want to wear.
