I grew up dabbling in arts and crafts, everything from crayons to cross stitch. Sadly, I soon found out that I was not meant to be an artist, as my drawing ability peaked in about the 6th grade. Fast forward a few years... in 2008, my mom learned to knit from her sister in law. She soon picked up a "teach yourself to crochet" kit, and she was hooked. (Pun intended). That year over Christmas break, she taught me to crochet too. It didn't take long to love this particular art and then I was hooked as well.
Though my early projects were a bit simplistic and some feel downright embarrassing to me now, I am still proud to see how far I've come since then. Now, I'm quite an accomplished crocheter and I'm getting pretty well known in my little corner of the world for my "Becca Blankets."
I started using my newfound skill to give crocheted baby blankets to my friends as gifts when their little ones arrived. I'm still making and giving away numerous blankets every year to my friends and loved ones. That's my first priority as a crocheter--giving away the things I make to those I love.
I eventually realized that not everyone has the ability to make lovely handmade things, and ultimately decided to try my hand at putting a few things up for sale in this little corner of the online world.
My pieces are original in color scheme, and some feature original patterns. The material used to make each piece is usually a remnant of a previous project so it is history-laden and in some small way, eco-conscious.
I am happy to share my love of beautiful handmade gifts here and it is my hope that you will love your BeccAnn Original.
