I'm Briar, a Fibre Artist living and creating my textiles in a magical forest within the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. My work reflects the spirit, colour and texture of the surrounding Elements of these ancient and gentle mountains. I am inspired by the ever-changing play of light through the trees and the brilliance of the seasons as they melt from one to the next . Each day brings a new palette from which to work. Fibre art is one of the oldest art forms and at present, I am obsessed and enchanted by the feel and beauty of nuno felting, an alchemical process in which fine wool and natural fibres are feverishly worked and agitated until they migrate into silk/natural fabric which creates one of a kind works of wearable art. I also create hand-carved Dryad art dolls when the Forest offers a willing piece of wood ready to be revealed. It is my hope you will find a magical piece just for you here in my shop.
