there isnt much that doesnt catch my eye. the blueness of the sky, peoples expressions as they talk on the phone, shapes and colors of everyday objects, the title of a book i most likely wont get to read. i am rather interested in my surroundings and my mind is always full of multiple things. i dont get the opportunity to spend hours on end creating like i day dream about, i have four kids 8 and under! needless to say a lot of my creative life lives in my sketchbooks. for me, sketchbooks are a a quick way to capture the things that my mind settles on and wants to revisit. i opened my shop, bukuborden, at the end of 2012 and it is a showcase of my art pieces that i have had time to work on and pour myself into.

etsy put out an article on how to have a creative 2014, and i finally had a quiet moment to read it. what stuck out to me was 'creativity is a gift to share with others'. after reading it i immediately wrote it down in my sketchbook and thought, how perfect is that! the quote is meant for my shop.

when i started painting 8 years ago, i noticed how each piece was a reflection of my mind and soul, struggles and triumphs, and all these things had found a way to come out onto my canvas. my main inspiration of creating art is to simply relieve my own mind of its racing habits and to put things to rest. i also enjoy trying out new materials, techniques, and styles. anything to soothe that aching creative bone. and of course, i want to connect with you, the reader, and inspire or relate.
