THE STORY
The Maris Sal® story began when I (Maria Johansson Bayindir, Swedish designer and scuba dive instructor) had had enough of inferior quality accessories which would not stand the test of the nautical environment in which I spent my days.
Inspired by my father, a skilled goldsmith, I decided to create a range of superior quality, nautical bracelets, which would be the perfect companion for a nautical dream life.

What does Maris Sal mean?
Maris Sal is Latin and means "sea-salt".
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, I ship worldwide.
Sizing details
The size you order is the inner circumference of the clasped bracelet, meaning that it will fit a wrist of up to that measurement.
For example: A bracelet with the size 7"/17.8cm fits a wrist of up to that measurement or slightly smaller.
We recommend using a tape measure (a piece of string and a ruler works fine too) and measuring the circumference of your wrist just above the hand.
To calculate a perfect fit place your smallest finger between your wrist and the tape measure to allow for some slack.
NOTE: When communicating your measurement to us for custom-making leave your exact wrist-measurement without adding any slack.
I am ordering a gift and don't know what size I should buy, can you help?
For women the most popular size is Small (6.5"/16.5cm) and for men Large (7.5"/19.1cm). If your giftee is heavy-built choose one size larger.
You may also choose to order an adjustable bracelet like the Providence, Vinga or Key West, which are available in two sizes; S/M (for women) and M/L (for men).
If the bracelet isn't a perfect fit you may always return it to have it resized, at no extra cost.
Quality materials
All products are tailor-made with the highest grade quality material available, including Italian nappa and suede leathers and waterproof US Military grade rope and nautical cords.
The silver-colored pieces are solid 316L stainless steel.
The fine metals we use for plating include 18k Gold and Rose Gold, and solid 18k Gold on specialty items.
All of my plated pieces have a solid 316L stainless steel base, as I find it is the best metal to use to ensure day-to-day wear in, on and around the water.
All pieces in my collection are of course nickel-safe.
Gift wrapping and packaging
Maris Sal Nautical products are beautifully detailed, inside and out. Labels, cards and packaging are all originally designed to create a beautiful compliment to our items.
The packaging helps convey our brands’ distinctive look and sense of style and reflects the quality of the product inside.
Each item arrives wrapped and ready for gift-giving.
If you would like to send a special greeting to your giftee I will be happy to include a handwritten card with the order, just leave a message at check-out with your request.
Care instructions
All items in our collection are 100% waterproof. No need to take them off for a swim in the ocean or a day out with the boat. Just rinse them in freshwater after a dip in the ocean or the pool to get rid of the salt or pool chemicals.
The metal parts are best cleaned by wiping with a soft cloth used to polish glasses or any other soft cloth.
If you need to remove a stain from the cord use a moist soft tooth-brush and a mild soap to carefully brush it off.
Please note: Don't use an abrasive cleaning method, like silver or brass polish, for items that are gold-plated since this will remove the gold-plating. Our metal parts are made to last a very long time and the stainless steel won't oxidise/darken or change color over time.
Custom and personalized orders
If you need a different size, just leave a note at check-out with your precise wrist measurement (without adding extra slack) and your preference of a tighter or looser fit and I will be happy to make you a perfectly fitted bracelet about 0.25" larger than your wrist.
Can all the accessories be worn in the water?
Yes. Our bracelets are designed to be worn on, in and around the water. We use custom, marine grade, lines and 316L stainless steel hardware.
Do you sell wholesale?
