I love rocks. I have a passion for rocks, stones and pebbles.
My earliest memory of a relationship with rocks is kicking one all the way home after elementary school. It seemed to make the walk less boring and with a purpose. Haha, (am I the only one who did that?)
Later, I started collecting them for their simple beauty. They found homes in my plants, on my shelves, all over inside and outside of my living space.
I started painting them, with dots and colors and sometimes animals. I often gave them away or sold them. I created jewelry with smaller rocks, pebbles.
To this day, I share my space with Rocks.
Now, I go to the beach to look at the ocean, to find peace, see wildlife, listen to the waves and collect interesting ROCKS for art. Sometimes, I can’t let a special rock go! I keep it for myself. I look at it. I hold it. I feel it. I wonder about it. How long has it been on the shore and tumbled in the surf? So many shapes, sizes and colors! Some of the rocks I find are so smooth and soft, it’s unreal. They look perfectly formed. They feel perfectly smooth. I feel their energy when I hold them in my hands.
Some are broken, chipped or cracked. Some are dull and some are shiny. Some are dark, some light , some multicolored. Some have deep scratches or dents. Some are broken.
Rocks, they begin to sound like us, humans sharing the same space, getting knocked down or bumped, rolling on the tide of life.....
This may be the connection for me. I feel a part of something bigger- and yes, He who created it. I feel grounded, calm and centered.
The rocks that come home with me are cleaned and shined. I wrap them in leather or “binder” cane, add beads or other enhancements. I add a small amount of Mineral Oil to enchanted the color.
Whether you buy one for yourself, as a gift or a memento of a special occasion, it is my hope that you too can look at your rock and feel connected to something bigger. Or, you just like the way the rock resonates with you.
These rocks can be used for meditative practices, home and office decor or just a neat rock to look at. Some tell me they can be conversation starters when people see them displayed. Thanks for visiting my shop! I am grateful!
