Hi! Welcome to Owl Tree Designs on Etsy. I hope you have fun browsing my creations.
I love sewing and any kind of needlework. I love repurposing unwanted clothing and making purses, wallets, etc. I've sewn all my life, and it's been a fairly long one. Some of my earliest memories are using my toy sewing machine to make clothes for my imaginary "Little Ratties." Did you guess I saw "Cinderalla?" I've also embroidered, knitted, crocheted, quilted by hand and machine–you name it.
I taught myself beadwork over 20 years ago because I couldn't find jewelry I liked. I wanted something that no one else would have. After taking up beadwork I decided to learn to incorporate metal work into my pieces so I took a couple of intensive classes at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. Wonderful school! I learned many fine techniques in cold connections, soldering, all kinds of fabrication and torch-fired enameling from Debra Lynn Gold and Marjorie Simon. They are wonderful teachers.
My materials run the gamut except I do not use plastic unless it's vintage, unavailable in any other form, or a really nice button. I try to incorporate unusual things into my designs as often as possible. I like a bit of whimsy and serendipity. I hope you do too.
