This item was a custom made gift for a friend and it exceeded expectations. I met Dorklandia at a comic con and they were just the loveliest, and the products are wonderful. I also own two sets of the earrings and i get compliments constantly. Terrific shop, lovely humans!

making light of making light

The name 'dorklandia' came to me all the way back in 2003, after passing a record store called Discolandia in SF's Mission District. Once I heard it out loud, I knew it was just the right thing for me.

I've been making and sewing and crocheting things for about as long as I can remember. My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was very very young, and my mother used to sell her own plush kitties at craft shows.

When I first opened my etsy shop, I was very into making hats. Eventually, this led to me making 157 hats for my wedding-- every guest got a hat! I still have a hat-making binge every year, usually in February. If you happen to run into me in the winter time and want a silly hat...

I've been focused on making kitties for a few years now. It's always been my destiny to become a crazy cat lady, and I am well on my way. :) It's been tremendously fun. I just want to bring a bit of dorky happiness into people's lives.
