My shop name in of itself has a story, as do all of my pieces. Before I married my husband (16 years ago), he told me stories when we were on dates. There were two main characters in his stories; Rodan (the elf) and Eljah (the fairy) pronounced el-juh. The two of them had many adventures and were inseparable. In fact, they loved each other. Well, Rodan was inspired by my husband's personality, and Eljah was me. He created the fairy's name by using letters of my first and middle names ( I added the B to represent our last name).
When I decided to take a leap of faith and open an Etsy shop in 2010, I felt that Eljah*B was a perfect fit for the name of my creative place. It was given to me by loving husband, it is nurtured by me and supported by many. It encompasses so much love and it is very personal.
Everyday, I look forward to working in my studio. It is my "quiet time" while my two kids have theirs:) When my daughter is home from school, she often sits at my side with her machine and creates her own masterpieces with fabric. My son loves to help me pick out fabrics and gives me feedback:)
One of my greatest joys of my sewing is working with others to create a unique and custom piece for someone they love. I enjoy every step; from exchanging messages, providing pictures, creating the piece, to following up to make sure my customers are 100% satisfied. It is a joy to meet new people every day through Etsy.
Eljah*B is a blessing in my life for all that it connects me with; therefore, I want to give back and help others seeking to grow small businesses. I allocate 10% of my monthly profits to KIVA, a non-profit organization, which allows me to support small-business owners around the world. I participate in funding loans hoping others find success in their creative passions or careers.
Eljah*B is growing with hopes to continue to grow and provide joy to others year after year.
