Announcement    Welcome to the artwork of Harry Leaf.
I was born in the Chicago area and moved to San Francisco in 1985 where despite the fact that art was always my calling I earned a law degree. Upon completion of the law degree in 1989 I immediately asked myself, ”what was I thinking?” and became a painter and sculptor.
For many years I made goddess sculptures, mermaids and animal sculptures, as well as guitar picks and later butterfly puddlers.
I moved to Sacramento, CA in 2018 where I have been wonderfully bombarded with nature. I have been getting my inspiration from all sorts of small animals, birds insects and plants(I have become an avid gardener). There are also the surprise visits from skunks, owls, coyotes, raccoons, bees and butterflies, which seem to make their way into my work.
As of late I have been focusing on butterfly puddlers, hoping they will nourish these beautiful creatures and help keep the pollination/ecosystem cycle healthy.
I individually make, glaze and fire each piece in my studio.
