Cherry Creek Farm Purebred Icelandic Fiber

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Announcement    Cherry Creek Farm is proud to offer our Purebred Icelandic Sheep fiber: roving , fleeces, mill spun & hand spun yarn and batting. We are also offering our other sheep's pelts, Icelandic/Alpaca blends and mohair from our rescue Angora Goats.

A little more about the Icelandics, the stars of our Farm. They are one of the world's oldest and purest breeds of sheep. Throughout their 1200+ years of history starting with the Vikings, they have remained one of the few multi-purpose breeds, treasured for their meat, milk, and fiber. They are raised naturally-lots of fresh air, Rocky Mountain spring water, Colorado premium grass hay, and Certified Organic vegetable trimmings from our Market Gardens (their favorite!).

The Icelandic sheep's wool is of a dual character: a fine soft undercoat (thel )& a long coarser coat (tog). Their fiber is soft to begin with and after washing & wearing, the wool "blooms" & becomes even softer.

Their wool is one of the easiest and fastest felting fiber and also dyes beautifully, if this is your pleasure. Beautiful natural tones and colors and east of weaving and knitting place Icelandic Fiber in the Premium or Exotic category.

With all that said, we have come to a point in our lives where we have decided to down-size, move to the city, and RETIRE. Not an easy decision by any means, but we are excited about what new adventures we will embark on in the future. So....I am gathering all of our sheep products together, photographing and listing them and will be offering these products to you at GREATLY reduced prices. We've had many loyal customers over the years and hope you will come visit our store again and stock up for the coming season.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. And thank you for your patronage. Susan
