The iheartcharlie story started over 20 years ago in the studio at my childhood home near Fremantle in Western Australia. Back then I was in Art School and majoring in Textile Design and was inspired by a lovely lady from Rajasthan who conducted an Indian Textile workshop I participated in. I picked up a needle and some embroidery thread and started to embroider my owns designs and the first Journal Slip covers evolved. They were nothing like the Indian Textiles but encompassed the simplicity that embodied my work at that time. My Journal Covers were originally sold at a local market and a gallery near my house.

A couple of years later I moved interstate and my sewing machine and cottons were packed away. And my focus shifted to painting and doodling, the results of this era are starting to emerge in hand printed textiles and a home wares label that currently only resides in my head

I returned home to Western Australia 2 years later but it was a couple of years before my sewing machine reappeared from it's long vacation and gradually the seeds of what is now 'iheartcharlie' began to appear. In July 2009 I discovered etsy and signed as a buyer and in late October of that year I took the leap and listed my first items. This shop was originally intended to stock my photography but some how the textiles have taken a life of their own and the design label 'iheartcharlie' was born.

I love to create, and all of the items in my shop are borne out of inspiration rather than simply trying to come up with ideas to sell. I sometimes go through periods where nothing is created because I don't like to force my ideas so I only work when inspiration flows.

I was born under the sign of Virgo and it's true we are perfectionists. Maybe not in all areas of our lives but for me it's in my work whether it be my day job as an Office Manager or in the items I create for my store. If it's not perfect you won't see it here, it will simply end up in a box at the back of my work room until it is fixed or recycled into another item.

iheartcharlie is constantly evolving who knows what the future will bring..... I'm hoping one day I can join the 'quit the day job' club and create a textile empire!

2019 Update
I wrote my shop spiel a couple of years ago and things have changed. My creative days are now spent putting pen to paper and drawing. One day these designs may end up as being a new textile creation but for now I'm clearing out my stock to make way for new adventures.
