My apparel business started when I had a few designs that I wanted to get printed. I soon realized that the process would not be as simple as I had hoped not to mention the lack of options I had that would stay in budget. I had to decide between having a very generic uncomfortable T-Shirt or pay an extremely high premium for a nicer shirt. Even the worker at the T-Shirt shop suggested that I should just do it myself if I had the capability.

I kept researching and realized that this might actually be a great opportunity for me. It combined the two things I enjoyed the most...creativity and customer service. I would be able to print my own designs and offer choices that were not available. It's funny how things work out. As I started investigating more, I realized that I lived a few minutes away from two of the largest apparel wholesale warehouses where I would have access to hundreds of brands. I could go pick them up within a few hours of getting an order if I wanted to.

Next step was putting together the equipment and software I would need to offer options. I wanted to be able to offer a wide range of items which meant multiple machines and different software to be able to create exactly what I wanted to make. While selling my own designs, I started getting requests for slight modifications on them, or requests to add names etc. I was happy to adjust things since I personally knew how hard it was to be able to get it done myself.

I soon realized where my passion really was. Creating the apparel that people wanted to have custom made. Sure, selling existing designs with simple changes or choices was fun but it did not give the satisfaction of putting together what someone had in mind and print it on a quality brand name apparel especially while being able to let them afford it. There are many sites where you can put your own text, add a clipart, and make a design. Unless you want a few hundred of those shirts, the pricing is going to be extremely high especially if you want a brand name apparel. Not to mention that there is no one to talk or ask questions to.

Etsy is the perfect place for my business and what I want to achieve with it. It lets me create and communicate with ease. It takes a conversation and multiple questions to get things right and put what is in your head into an image preview. Sometimes it takes several previews to get it exactly like you want it to be but if it results in that perfect gift or the craziest bridal party set, time invested is worth it for both sides. Reading the feedback given and seeing the happy faces in the pictures of a charity walk, a bridal party, a family reunion is the most rewarding experience.

3. Let me know the design or text you want. Want to add graphics, use a specific font, different color scheme? Anything can be done...
